Hello Wedding Singer Fans!
It's Cody Becker again with some more exciting news! It's official, our little Theatre Department made Lemon Bay achieve the status as Southwest Florida's Coolest School! Not only that, but one of our very own thespians was awarded a one year scholarship to Edison State College!
Apart from winning this, I want to personally tell you how much we appreciate all you are doing!!
Cody Max.
Fundraising, rehearsals, graduation, awards banquets, ABC7's Coolest School, and barbeques! Phew! That's what we've been up to in a nutshell! Literally.
LBHS Theatre was selected by ABC7 as one of the finalist for their COOL SCHOOL contest. The winning school is awarded a one year scholarship to Edison College! We hope to win this presitigous honor and get the extra press and recognition. Please help us win by voting on every computer you can, and spread the word! http://www.abc-7.com/CoolSchools/
Our fundraising count is up to $35,500!! Thank you to everyone! We can see our dream getting closer and closer. It is all because of our unified vision, hard work, and extremely dedicated fans! Thank you everyone for believing in us and spreading the word! Over 200 people have contributed to our 1500 @ $50 Campaign...and even more have sent donations of various amounts! Our Block Party Barbeque was a ton of fun and a huge success...thanks in part to Mary Peterson, Cody Becker, and Barnacle Bill's!! Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, the cast that performing in 90 degree weather, and the rain that held out!
We are back in rehearsal mode having just finished a four hour rehearsal on Memorial Day! Never a dull moment. We are tweaking vocal numbers, tightening up large dance numbers, compensating for cast members that can't join us in Nebraska and prepping for upcoming performance engagements such as our mini performance at the Fellowship Church, Sunday, May 31st at the 10 AM Service, LBHS Baccaleaureate at the Englewood Methodist Church, Wed, May 27th, and the Fox Morning Blend Monday, June 1st at 9 AM.
Our seniors are prepping for graduation on Friday, May 29th and making plans for their futures! We enjoyed a very long but fun (and emotional) Awards Banquet. All participants in "The Wedding Singer," "Aida," Districts, States, and Internationals received recognition along with the End of Year Speciality Awards such as Best Actor/Actress, Thespian, Ensemble, Tech, etc. The night was capped with the amazing Senior Roast videos (done by the juniors and will be posted on here soon), appointment of the 2009/2010 Officers.
Thanks for following our journey! Remember - "attitude is altitude"...you choose your own.

We'll be keeping you in touch with these Video Blogs, so check back often! :) -C.Becker
In the midst of massive fundraising efforts (Barbq @ Tringali Center, Sunday 1 - 5 PM) , press release blitzs (see our Press Coverage page), and our annual Thespian Banquet (Friday at 7 PM, Auditorium), we must face the inevitable mass exodus of our phenomenal seniors. An emotional week for all of us; Senior Farewell's Tuesday and Senior Roast's Friday, but I suppose we can be fortunate that having Internationals ahead of us will keep the group together just a bit longer than normal. It will be difficult, nonetheless, to lose a solid third of our department...the third that has envisioned, designed, collaborated, built, and carried this department through its greatest achievement yet! Yet, I know they have served as an inspiration to the scores of younger students waiting in the wings, ready to soar, and fill the much larger shoes of our incredible seniors! j.kelly
Last night the cast and crew took a trip to Fort Myers, FL to watch the Broadway Palm's production of "The Wedding Singer." Afterwards we meet the cast and three man crew. Great fun! The group was so supportive and hung around to talk in small groups with the kids for over an hour! We will post some video blogs of our trip soon.
Donation update as of 5/16/09: $23,200!! Thank you everyone! We are so close to our first goal of $29,274 which will cover the Registration Fees for the entire cast and crew.
